Today’s top 3 Felt.Buzz positives

Hope your Sunday was good folks.

Here are three reasons why mine was good:

1. Painted an old grill I am going to use to display my earrings and other things

2. wrote several blog posts some posted today, some ‘in the bag’ for later posting

3. made another butterfly brooch

Hope you have had a good weekend 🙂

Spotlight on COLDHAM CUDDLIES

Today the Felt.Buzz Spotlight falls on Coldham Cuddlies.

Coldham Cuddlies is run by Isobel Morrell, who has been making these toys and mascots since the 1950’s. She has had an Etsy shop since 2010. What is fantastic is she uses patterns she has been collecting for 60 years so her toys have a real vintage feel. The toys are made using unusual faux fur and colourful plush fabrics. They are all stuffed with polyester fibre, meeting all international standards – and are made in a totally smoke-free environment. They are long-lasting, cuddly, safe for everyone from birth to the Third Age.

Isobel has a good internet presence, she uses facebook, twitter and has a blog as well as her Etsy shop. She certainly uses these mediums really well, and it is worth befriending and following her – she retweets and is fun to interact with.

So if you are looking for a safe vintage toy go and check out Coldham Cuddlies.

Today’s positive buzz

Today was a good day. Here are just three reasons why:

1) I spent 3 hours at the Boutique du coin in Vallière, had a chat with some nice people, and the sun was shining

2) Made a felt butterfly whilst ‘working’ in the boutique. I had set a goal to make a butterfly this weekend so objective achieved!

3) Had some good feedback on my creations on Twitter and Facebook today: warms the cockles of my heart, so it does.

Hope you had a good day 🙂

Spotlight on Alienskin Clothing

Today, I am going to spotlight Alienskin Clothing: a company that specialises (as their inspired name suggests) in alternative clothing.

They have a great range of  Gothic clothing, Cyber clothing, Faerie clothing, Alternative clothing and accessories in sizes 6 to 30, all hand-made by their talented collection of UK based alien designers.

What attracted me to their site in the first place was their excellent Facebook page. Here they showcase, not only their brilliant designs, but also other pages and pictures that have come to their attention. In fact the majority of their posts are other peoples work (always credited, with links). If you like unusual pictures and things that make you stop in your tracks for a moment you would do well to like their page

You can look at their full range of clothes on their website. They are also available on Twitter and on Etsy

Disclaimer: Felt.Buzz has had no financial, or otherwise, incentive to review Alienskin Clothing (or any other site): we’ve done it because we think they are ace!

Mini bee mobile

I made one of these little fellas for the new ’boutique du coin’ in Valliere, La Creuse. They are also available made-to-order from our etsy shop

This unique design has a bee, a beehive and a flower all hanging from a felt branch which has leaves and a little caterpillar on the top. It is needle-felted. The cord is hemp. It comes complete with a small suction cup so you can hang it from a window in your car or in your home. The branch is approximately 9cms long, the caterpillar is 3cms long. The beehive is 6cm long and 4cm wide. The bee is 3cm long and (including wings) 3cm high). The flower is blue and is 4cm across and is 4cm long including the stem. Made to order
